The National Strategic Program Transforma Turismo, driven by Corfo (Chile), has published its “2026 Tourism Trends Bulletin,” selecting the Emotur Lab from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) as a key success case for the sophistication of the global tourism offer.

The official document highlights Emotur’s ability to apply neuromarketing techniques and advanced technologies—such as eye tracking, electroencephalography (EEG), and virtual and augmented reality—to analyze traveler emotions and decision-making, thereby driving the digitalization of the sector.

Strategic Alliance with Chile and the Metaverse: This recognition is the result of close international collaboration. Emotur has consolidated its presence in the region by signing a Memorandum of Understanding with the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. This alliance has enabled the development of pioneering joint actions in the metaverse, exploring new frontiers for destination promotion and management.

The mention in the Chilean bulletin supports Emotur’s track record in leading initiatives that transform the industry on a global scale:

  • EuroEmotur: An ambitious project that has digitalized the emotional assessment of 100 SMEs across 17 European countries using eye-tracking technologies.

  • Gastrotour: Innovation in enogastrotourism and neuro-gastronomy training, successfully implemented in seven countries.

  • Canarias Living Lab (CLL) – Technology and Distribution: The deployment of teleportation technologies in Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, and Artificial Intelligence, tools already being used by more than 450 travel agencies to enhance the sales experience.

This entire innovation ecosystem is supported by the academic excellence of the Master TIDES, positioned as an international benchmark in training future tourism leaders.

From Emotur, we would like to thank Transforma Turismo and Corfo for this recognition, which inspires us to continue redefining the boundaries of tourism knowledge.
